Procedures for Affiliating to Makerere University Institute of Social Research: |
|
| There is an arrangement for a formal affiliation to enable a scholar become an Associate of the Institute and part of the community of the Social Sciences research work in Uganda. Affiliation is available to established scholars and lecturers from other institutions and universities in Uganda and abroad |
| |
The following are the benefits of acquiring an affiliation with MISR:
- The Institute makes formal research clearance arrangements with the Government and the National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) on behalf of the Associate. MISR also gives a status to the Associate as a bona fide visiting scholar. In addition, the Institute can take matters at the Government level concerning the conduct of research.
- It is generally most convenient for visiting scholars to obtain visitors’ visa for Uganda from the embassies in their home countries. On arrival, the Institute can deal with the immigration formalities for obtaining the appropriate passes to remain in Uganda for the duration of the research study.
- Short-term accommodation can usually be provided on arrival during breaks in the field studies and before departure if space is available in the Institutes Self-contained flats. The flats are also available for long periods.
- Members and affiliates of Institute have free access to the Institute Library, which contains materials not available in Makerere University Library.
- MISR organizes seminars where scholars present their research findings. These seminars are a valuable way of clarifying direction and significance of the research conducted that leads to high quality research reports.
- A few cubicle spaces are available for Associates/affiliates and are given out on first come first served
