Bob Meister is Professor of Political and Social Thought at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he teaches in the History of Consciousness Department. He is the author of After Evil, a critique of the post-Cold War culture of global human rights, and is working on a new book, Just Optionality that criticizes the financialized modes of production that underlie conceptions of human rights and human capacity. An activist in the field of public higher education, Professor Meister was for many years President of the labor union for University of California faculty and has written and lectured extensively on higher education finance.

Professor Meister will give four lecture series as MISR as follows:
