MISR Graduate Students’ Conference

Makerere University Institute of Social Research (MISR) has organised a Graduate Students’ Conference for students writing their doctoral dissertations. The conference is meant to enable students to make presentations from original research findings and get valuable feedback from faculty and peers. 


THEME: Writing the World from African Vantage Points"

The conference is limited to students working in the study of Africa in any of the following clusters:

  1. Literary and Cultural Studies
  2. Political Studies
  3. Political Economy
  4. Historical Studies

On topics covering Nigeria, Somaliland, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia.

Keynote Speaker: Prof. Lidwien Kapteijns, Wellesley College, Massachusetts.

Time: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.

Venue: MISR Seminar room 1.


Papers to be presented during the conference are available from MISR Library.

The event is open to the public. To reserve a seat, Pre-register with MISR Library or call: 0312 132 111.

Note: Breakfast, Lunch and evening tea on site.
