"The linkage of Knowledge producing higher education to economic development" by Prof. A.B.K. Kasozi

In this paper, Prof. A.B.K Kasozi argues that "because of the roles they play, universities are the centers of any country’s innovation system—which includes public and private research centers, commerce and industry. For universities to perform that role, there must be an understanding, a consensus and agreement amongst all stakeholders, the university, the citizens and the academia, that the role of universities in not only to teach like high schools do, but also, and more importantly, to produce knowledge through research, debate and other forms of discovering what was not known before."

This paper was presented during the Makerere University International Research and Innovations Dissemination Conference themed " Community Transformation through Research, Innovations and Knowledge Transformation."
