Phillip Oketcho, a MISR PhD Fellow, publishes book, “Language policy and education in Uganda”

Phillip Oketcho, a MISR PhD Fellow, has published a book “Language policy and education in Uganda.” It explores the various policies and language debates in Uganda’s educational system. It questions the role of the government in enacting and enforcing these policies against that of civil society. In addition, the book interrogates why particular language policies have been adopted at specific historical moments and the waves of transformations triggered by such policy changes.

The book is available at University Bookshop Makerere and Uganda Bookshop Colville Street, Kampala.
