Dr. Lyn Ossome Visiting Scholar at the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan

Dr. Lyn Ossome was recently a visiting scholar at the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, from 24 April -  6 May.

Contributing to the Contemporary Third World Thought Lecture Series (III) organised by the International Institute for Cultural Studies (IICS), she gave four talks featuring her ongoing research on democratic transitions, human rights, gendered subjectivities and violence.

This memo clarifies the background to the management decision that Dr. Stella Nyanzi vacate her office at MISR and take a seat at the MISR library so long as she refuses to teach in the MPhil/PhD programme at MISR. Contrary to some claims in social media, Dr. Stella Nyanzi has not been fired from MISR. Nor is she being victimized for her political orientation.

Makerere University Institute of Social Research (MISR) has organised a Graduate Students’ Conference for students writing their doctoral dissertations. The conference is meant to enable students to make presentations from original research findings and get valuable feedback from faculty and peers.  The conference will take place from 8-9 July at MISR, Makerere University in Kampala.
