Hello, i proudly take this opportunity to welcome you to the Makerere Institute of Social Research's (MISR) website. Our new-look website has interactive links to guide you to the services and opportunities offered by the Institute. MISR is the perfect setting for Social Research within Uganda’s premier University, Makerere. The Institute is located at the Main Gate of the University.  It is only 10-15 minutes walk from the nation’s capital city, Kampala, and about 45 minutes drive from Entebbe International Airport

In the present and the near future, MISR is committed to serving the national and global community through multi-disciplinary research to improve academic knowledge, inform policy and contribute to economic and social development.

I want to thank those who have supported us in so many varied ways. In particular I want to express our gratitude to those who have given us financial help or given us recommendations to access funding to conduct our research.
