Stella Nyanzi is participating in the Next Generation of Social Science in Africa Workshop at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Dr. Stella Nyanzi is participating in the bi-annual Next Generation in Social Science in Africa Workshop as a workshop-leader. The workshop is hosted by the University of Dar es Salaam and is being held from 6th-10th January 2014. Funded by Carnegie Corporation New York through the Social Science Research Council, this fellowship program supports proposal development, doctoral research, and dissertation completion for young African scholars enrolled in doctoral programs in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. 45 fellows are supported annually.

Giuliano Martiniello presented a paper titled "Food Sovereignty as a weapon of the weak? Rethinking the food question in Uganda" at the Conference "Food Sovereignty a critical dialogue", University of Yale, 14-15 September, 2013, and a seminar titled "Dispossession and resistance to South African agribusiness capital in the scramble for Eastern and Souther African land" at the Centre for Civil Society, University of KwaZulu-Natal, 28 November 2013.

Stella Nyanzi presents paper at 56th African Studies Association Annual Meeting in Baltimore.

Dr. Stella Nyanzi presented a paper entitled “Politicizing the ‘Sin of Sodom and Gomorrah’: Examining the Christian Rightists’ War against Homosexuality in Uganda” on 21st November 2013 at the 56th African Studies Association (ASA) annual meeting held in Baltimore, Maryland.  

During this meeting, Dr. Nyanzi also received the ASA Presidential Scholars Programme 2013 award, along with Dr. Komlan Agbedahin from Rhodes University and Dr. Mathayo Ndomondo from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Nyanzi’s article published in the journal ‘International Peacekeeping’

Dr. Stella Nyanzi has published an article entitled ‘Homosexuality, Sex Work and HIV/AIDS in Displacement and Post-Conflict Settings: The Case of Refugees in Uganda’ in the journal INTERNATIONAL PEACEKEEPING, volume 20, number 4, pages 450-465. The article is based on her on-going ethnographic research.
