The Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) in Kampala, Uganda, invites applications for four Research Fellow positions and two Senior Research Fellow positions in the fields of:
- African History, with a particular interest in Pre-Colonial African History
- Political Economy
- Literary and Cultural Studies
- Socio-Cultural Anthropology; Literary and Cultural Studies
- African Political Thought
All levels of experience and areas of specialization will be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in an appropriate field, a well-defined research agenda,and a strong commitment to teaching in a graduate programme. Research Fellows and Senior Research Fellows will be expected to pursue original research, publish consistently in international forums, teach two graduate seminars a year, and contribute to the institutional development of MISR as a premiere research and graduate training institution in Africa.
Research Fellows need to have (i) A PhD, (ii) A minimum of three (3) years of proven research, and (iii) A minimum of three (3) refereed publications.
Senior Research Fellows need to have a(i) A PhD, (ii) A minimum of six (6) new publications is refereed journals, and (iii) A minimum of 5 years of proven research,
NB: A book is considered the equivalent of three (3) refereed articles.
All appointments are for five-year contracts, subject to renewal.
