Research Associates

 Research Associates

Research Associates are researchers holding a doctoral degree whoare based permanently at a university or a research institute in Uganda and are formally members of a permanent research group at MISR.  As such, they will have formally presented their research proposal in a seminar.  Based upon their project’s acceptance, Research Associates are eligible for a research stipend.  Research Associates may also participate in ad-hoc research groups and are expected to participate in seminars, reading groups, and other MISR events.  They will be provided office space at MISR as available.

Visiting Research Associates are externally-based researchers spending a fixed period at MISR and having a formal link to a specific MISR research group.  Their application must include a detailed research proposal that is thematically in line with one of the research groups.  The decision as to their appointment will be made by the Director in consultation with the meeting of Research Fellows.  Among those eligible to apply are faculty members from other universities, post-doctoral researchers, advanced PhD students conducting dissertation research, and independent researchers.  During their time at MISR, they will be expected to participate in seminars, reading groups, and other MISR events.  They will be provided office space at MISR as available and as needed.  They will be expected to obtain their own funding, except insofar as they may be provided with a research stipend, at the discretion of the Director, to help fund their project.

Those interested in applying for the position of Research Associate or Visiting Research Associate, should contact the Director.
