Stella Nyanzi presented a paper on the Equal Opportunities Commission

Stella Nyanzi presented a paper entitled “How Sexual Minorities can Strategically Engage with the Equal Opportunities Commission” at a stakeholder’s meeting organized by the Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum (HRAPF www.hrapf.org)  in conjunction with the Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law (CSCHRCL www.ugandans4rights.org ). The meeting was held on 25th April 2013 at the Grand Imperial Hotel, Kampala. It brought together a range of stakeholders including civil society organizations working with diverse sexual minority communities and those interested in their rights.

 

Stella Nyanzi participated in the South-South Institute on Sexual Violence against Men and Boys

Stella Nyanzi participated in the first South-South Institute on Sexual Violence against Men and Boys in Conflict and Displacement that was held from Monday 8th April 2013 to Friday 12th April 2013 in Kampala. Organised by the Refugee Law Project (www.refugeelawproject.org ), First Step Cambodia, Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse Trust New Zealand, Men of Hope Uganda, Men of Peace Uganda and the International Human Rights Law Clinic at the University of California Berkeley this institute brought together a range of stakeholders involved in diverse levels of planning or delivering legal, medical and psycho-social  services to male victims and survivors of sexual violence. The institute provided an opportunity to reflect, consolidate, strategise, publicise and advocate on the practical questions of medical and psychosocial work with survivors, as well as the legal, political and sociological parameters of working on sexual violence against men and boys
