Stella Nyanzi to participate in the ‘Sexuality without Borders’ symposium in Beijing

Stella Nyanzi is participating in a symposium entitled “Sexuality without Borders: Dialogues on Pleasure” held in Beijing from 9^th May 2013 until 13^th May 2013.The symposium is organized by the Pink Space Sexuality Research Center  in Beijing, the Sussex University Center for the Study of Sexual Dissidence, the Institute of Development Studies’ Sexuality and Development Programme, and the Evening Primrose Education and Care Centre. The meeting in Tongli will provide a platform to openly discuss the nuanced concept of sexual pleasure between and among Chinese and international scholars and activists. These conversations are necessary if we are to advance beyond narrow conceptions of sexual rights, heteronormativity, gender equality and public health relates risks, hazards and harms that create borders that limit what we do as well as what we think.

Stella Nyanzi to present paper at the International Feminist Journal of Politics Conference in Sussex

Stella Nyanzi is presenting a paper entitled ‘Imagining Ugandan Kuchus: Exploring Non-Heteronormative Possibilities in the Ugandan Nation” at the conference of the International Feminist Journal of Politics scheduled for May 17^th – 19^th May 2013 and organized by the Institute of Development Studies’ Gender, Power and Sexuality programme. The conference will be held at the University of Sussex.
