Nyanzi to present a paper at the 30th International Congress of Psychologists (Cape Town)

Stella Nyanzi is presenting a paper entitled “Experiences of Mental Health and Well-being among LGBTI in contemporary Uganda” at the 30^th International Congress of Psychologists to be held in Cape Town, South Africa between 21^st – 26^th July 2012. For details visit: www.icp2012.com.

Based on ethnographic research conducted for eighteen months between 2010 and 2012 in urban and rural Uganda, this paper examines emic interpretations of personal experiences of accessing and utilizing mental health services, care and support. Findings address both the micro-level of everyday personal experiences of self-identified LGBTI individuals and communities, and the macro-level of health systems delivery particularly to a minority group in society.
